Tasting Notes

Radiant in the glass with a ruby garnet hue, this wine immediately intrigues with a vibrant, expressive nose - ripe strawberry mingles with darker red and blue fruits like blueberry, plum and marionberry, all lifted by a hint of savory conifer. On the palate, it delivers a juicy core of red and blue fruit, at once vivid and nuanced, revealing itself in elegant, layered turns. A delicate thread of oak spice adds intrigue and length, while the youthful tannin structure signals that this wine will reward with careful cellaring for years to come.

“The 2023 Pinot Noir Yamhela Vineyard is a very pretty, understated wine. Crushed flowers, mint, tobacco and bright red-toned fruit all grace this understated, classy Pinot from Etude. A wine of balance and harmony, the 2023 will drink well right out of the gate. Floral overtones reappear on the lifted, resonant close.”– Antonio Galloni

      Vintage Notes
2023 was defined by climatic contrast and measured ripening, a season that showcased both restraint and vibrancy. Winter brought dry and chilly conditions, followed by a short but intense spring rainfall pattern, delaying bud break about two to three weeks later than typically seen. As spring transitioned into summer, the valley warmed into classic mid‑80°F daytime highs, with cooler nights in the 50°s, ideal for retaining natural acidity and building aromatic complexity. A brief mid‑August heat spike briefly spurred final ripening, though it passed quickly without stressing vines unduly. Throughout the growing season, prolonged dryness allowed fruit to concentrate, while the well‑timed warmth and stable diurnal shifts preserved lively freshness and vibrant fruit expression.
