Tasting Notes

Our 2022 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a beautiful, deep mauve hue in the glass. The nose is expressive and generous, with a cherry-vanilla lift, hints of cola, and blackberry pie accented by graham cracker spice. Layers of red currant, raspberry preserves, and acai berry are joined by subtle earthy tones. The palate is full and rich, yet very balanced, driven by plush red raspberries and cherries throughout, alongside dark cherry fruit and a creamy, rounded mid-palate mouthfeel. Natural acidity gives the wine freshness while tannins feel soft, finely integrated, and approachable—succulent, supple, and drinking well immediately upon release. The finish is tactile and gently firm, turning drier with notes of bittersweet chocolate, espresso bean, and a hint of truffle-like earthiness. Secondary accents of red rose petal and wild thyme linger. A classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with spice-and-earth complexity, nice weight, and plenty of early-drinking appeal.

      Vintage Notes
The 2022 season started with below-average rainfall, extending California’s drought conditions for a third year. However, a few large rainfall events filled reservoirs in Napa and Sonoma, improving early growing conditions substantially from 2021. A mild spring with close-to-normal rainfall and a cool summer brought the vines into balance. Cool maritime fog and wind in August matured the grapes slowly, retaining fresh acidity. We harvested cooler-climate varieties before the Labor Day warm spell and Cabernet Sauvignon after for peak richness. The resulting wines exhibit elegance, with the reds showing softer and more polished tannins. This will certainly be a vintage to be remembered.
