Tasting Notes

A deep garnet color, the Etude 2022 Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a layered nose of dark plum, black cherry and marionberry, underpinned by a graphite-driven mineral note and a faint touch of baking spice. On the palate, the fruit deepens toward dark berry confit, framed by supple, melting tannins and a subtle note of black licorice. Acidity is well integrated and lively, providing balance and lift through a long, sustained finish. Approachable in its youth, the wine also has the structure to benefit from continued time in the cellar.

      Vintage Notes
A near ideal vintage, 2022 produced exceptionally high-quality fruit. Winter began with ample rains and led to cool weather patterns during flowering, which supported naturally limited vine yields. A mild summer set the stage for even ripening, with veraison appearing in early July. A cool, maritime-influenced August supported a foundation of bright, natural acidity and slow maturity, resulting in beautifully complex flavors and aromas. Unprecedented warm weather following Labor Day accelerated maturity of the grapes and necessitated judicious harvest decisions to ensure the fruit retained its integrity and quality.
