Tasting Notes

The 2023 vintage makes an immediate statement with deep purple hues and heady aromas of baking spice, strawberry jam, cherry pie, coffee and chocolate. A full-bodied mouthfeel is flush with flavors of fresh bramble berry, cherry cola and dark plum, all concluding with integrated acidity and fine tannins that promise excellent aging potential.

    • Technical info
      • Vintage: 2023
      • Volume: 750 mL
      • Varietal: Red Wine Blend
      • Appellation: Paso Robles
      • Brand: DAOU
      Vintage Notes
The 2023 growing season was preceded by ample winter rainfall that ultimately doubled the annual average in Paso Robles. The long winter and abundant precipitation led to a late bud break followed by moderate summer temperatures. These conditions allowed for a long hang time, with harvest starting a few weeks later than typical. Finally, October brought a series of warm days that allowed for a perfect alignment of physiological and phenolic ripeness. Overall, the temperature pattern was similar to Bordeaux, but without any rain during the harvest months. The resulting 2023 vintage combines freshness and natural acidity with optimal flavor development and phenolic maturity.
