Tasting Notes

Blended from exemplary lots grown in the cooler areas of Paso Robles, the 2023 DAOU
Reserve Chardonnay presents a pale straw color with ethereal aromas of orange blossom, cantaloupe and confectionary. The palate is broad and beautifully textured upon entry, displaying layers of pineapple, melon, passionfruit and hibiscus flower. Crisp acidity brings refreshing verve to a bright, long finish.

      Vintage Notes
The 2023 growing season was fueled by abundant winter rainfall that exceeded 30 inches in several areas of Paso Robles, more than double the annual average. This much-needed water replenished the soils and mitigated some of the impact of recent drought years. The long winter led to a late bud break followed by moderate summer temperatures. These conditions allowed for an extended hang time, with harvest starting a few weeks later than typical. Finally, October brought a series of warm days that allowed for a perfect alignment of physiological ripeness. The overall quality of the 2023 vintage is exceptional. The wines have retained freshness and natural acidity while displaying beautiful flavor development.
