Tasting Notes

A beautiful illustration of our Napa Valley Viognier, the 2023 vintage is expressive and aromatic, with notes of mandarin, orange blossom, and floral white jasmine on the bouquet. The palate is vibrant and bright with fresh green apple, citron lemon, peach, and nectarine. Zippy acidity offers a lively core with a subtle mouthwatering and inviting tang. Depth in flavor provides secondary notes of vanilla bean, undercurrents of honey, and delicate elderflower, which lead to a long, viscous, dry finish of white pepper spice and a wisp of Turkish delight. This Viognier has a mouth-coating medium body that provides sophistication, intrigue, and allure. It is enjoyable alone or paired with spicier foods, exotic dishes, or lighter fare.

      2023 delivered one of the most prolonged and compact harvests in recent Napa Valley history. The long growing season delayed the start of harvest until the fifth of September—two and a half weeks later than the previous year. This posed a logistical challenge in the cellar as tanks quickly filled. Additionally, there was concern about completing the harvest before the rainy season. Our winemaking team rose to the occasion and made the 2023 harvest season a bountiful yield of exceptional quality fruit. The grapes displayed intense color and complex flavors, maintaining a vibrant acidity that adds a distinctive character to what will surely be remembered as an excellent wine collector’s vintage.
